TIMBER Recusorb dehumidification/wood drying keeps sawn timber permanently in shape
Every hygroscopic material that is exposed to the ambient air will sooner or later establish an equilibrium with the surrounding air. This means that the material in question also adapts in terms of temperature and product humidity. The prevailing humidity in particular can result in sensitive quality changes for wood that is temporarily stored after cutting and pre-drying. However, as customers' quality requirements are increasing all the time, this requires controlled storage in order to ensure the required quality and prevent wood moisture.
Fluctuating climatic conditions during timber drying
Pre-dried sawn timber, for example, which is to be used for furniture production, must not contain more than 8 - 9% water. Or even joinery wood that is processed into doors or windows should have a product moisture content of approx. 12%. However, if this wood is stored under uncontrolled humidity, considerable fluctuations in quality can occur. Fluctuating and uneven moisture absorption can cause the wood to warp. This in turn can impair further processing in the furniture factory and call into question the quality of the end product. This can even lead to rejects, so that there is a risk that the customer will no longer accept the goods and the sawmill will be left with its goods.

Controlled humidity, consistently high quality.
The humidity required to maintain the drying condition of the wood is practically independent of the temperature in the warehouse. Heating is therefore not advisable when drying wood. K.I.R.S.C.H. uses dehumidifiers for this application to ensure consistent dehumidification throughout the year, even at low temperatures. These work according to the TIMBER Recusorb principle, an energy-optimized sorptive dehumidification system. At the heart of this technology is the world's highest quality SSCR-U rotor developed from silica gel and several metal-silicate compounds. Compared to the classic sorption principle, the TIMBER Recusorb also works with internal heat recovery. The incoming regeneration air (dark green) absorbs the residual regeneration energy of the rotor in the flushing zone, is preheated and its water content is reduced. As a result, the regeneration heater consumes less energy and the rotor is regenerated better in accordance with the lower regeneration air humidity.
