Side Channel Blowers – Powerful, Oil-Free Pressure and Vacuum Technology
Side channel blowers are highly efficient flow machines used to generate vacuum (negative pressure) or compressed air (positive pressure). They are characterized by their oil-free, wear-free, and virtually maintenance-free operation, offering a reliable solution for a wide range of industrial applications.
How a Side Channel Blower Works
In a side channel blower, an impeller equipped with blades rotates without contact inside a ring-shaped housing – the side channel. As the impeller spins, it draws in the medium (e.g., air or gas) and directs it into the channel. A radial pressure increase then occurs: the medium is accelerated by the centrifugal force of the impeller, redirected by the housing, and passed on to the next chamber. This repeated compression within the side channel enables particularly efficient pressure build-up.
Advantages of Side Channel Blowers
- Oil-free operation – no oil changes required, ideal for applications with high purity demands
- Wear-free & low maintenance – non-contact operation ensures long service life
- High efficiency – through multiple recirculations of the medium in the side channel
- Quiet operation – low-vibration running with minimal noise
- Compact design – space-saving for easy installation
- Versatile use – various connection options depending on application
Typical Areas of Application
Side channel blowers are used across numerous industries and processes:
- Vacuum technology: Extraction of gases and dust particles
- Pneumatic conveying: Transport of bulk materials or packaging materials
- Drying processes: Air circulation in production systems or climate control setups
- Air treatment & filtration: Use in medical and pharmaceutical applications
- Water and wastewater technology: Aeration of clarification tanks and aquaculture systems
Thanks to their efficient pressure and vacuum generation, side channel blowers are a reliable choice for industrial and commercial applications requiring consistent, oil-free air delivery.
