Product description
CALSITHERM® CLIMATE PANELS are made of calcium silicate, a mineral-based material. The calcium silicate crystals form a microporous framework. Billions of these micropores are connected to each other and to the outside air, resulting in a high level of capillarity. The material is open to diffusion, capillary-active, thermally insulating, environmentally friendly, non-combustible and mold-inhibiting.
The main areas of application are the renovation of damp masonry, interior insulation and mold prevention.
CALSITHERM® KLIMAPLATTEN are generally approved by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBT) as thermal insulation boards under the European approval ETA-08/0126.
The production
Sand and lime (silicon dioxide and calcium oxide) are natural raw materials for the production of climate panels. When slurried in water, they react to form a precursor of calcium silicate. After shaping into panels, the tiny calcium silicate crystals grow in an autoclaving process in superheated steam and high pressure to form the fine-pored, open structure. This results in the high capillary absorbency and the enormous water absorption capacity, as well as the thermal insulation properties. The panel is stable and self-supporting.
The ecology
CALSITHERM® KLIMAPLATTE is classified by the German Institute for Construction and Environment (DIBU) as an environmentally compatible construction product (DIBU-CSP-10408-D).
Residues can be disposed of as construction waste (observe local regulations – no hazardous waste).
